Visitors can start in Florence’s downtown by exploring the Florence Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with the self-guided
Historic Florence Walking Tour brochure. No history tour is complete without a visit to McFarland State Historic Park and the Pinal County Historical Museum. Stop for a bite to eat at one of our restaurants and browse for gifts at our locally owned and operated retail outlets. Continue on your journey 10 miles south of town to Saint Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Monastery, where visitors can view the chapel and walk the grounds. The Tom Mix memorial is located 10 miles south of the monastery along State Route 79. Just a short 9 mile drive west of Florence, Casa Grande Ruins National Monument is home to the largest known Hohokam Native American ruin. After a full day of sightseeing, relax for the evening at your choice of lodging in the Florence area.
Florence sits in the heart of Pinal County which is home to five state parks and numerous cultural and natural attractions. From Florence, head south on State Route 79 to Oracle Junction and State Route 77. Oracle State Park and Biosphere 2 are located north of the junction on State Route 77 and Catalina State Park is located south of Oracle Junction on State Route 77. You can take the scenic route to Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior by taking State Route 77 north to Winkelman, travel northwest on State Route 177 to Superior where the arboretum is located just west of town. Lost Dutchman State Park and the Superstition Mountain Museum are located in Apache Junction, a short 30 minute drive west of Superior on U.S. 60.
